Situated behind the Raj Niwas, the ancient Manakula Vinayagar Temple is dedicated to Lord Ganesha and is estimated to have been established over five centuries ago. The Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a stunning Roman Catholic church built by French missionaries in 1908. It was granted official Basilica status in 2011 and is one of only 21 Basilicas in India. It stands as the largest church in Puducherry, showcasing exquisite Roman-Byzantine architecture.

Constructed in a unique Latin-rite cross shape (50m x 48m), the interior is supported by 24 grand columns engraved with biblical verses. The church is famous for its magnificent stained glass windows depicting the lives of 28 saints, making it visually distinct from other churches in South India.
